As part of the British Baseball Federation (BBF) outreach to University Baseball, it offered seven scholarships to university student coaches to attend the Coach Summit 2017 in Birmingham on 28 Jan.
"To have so many university coaches at the recent BSUK Coach Summit is a testament to how far we've come as a community in such a short space of time. I'd like to offer my grateful thanks to the BBF for facilitating the attendance of so many of our young coaches and to BSUK for organising the conference. I believe events like this show how our community can pull together to achieve goals bigger than any of us." Luke Stott NUBL Commissioner and University Baseball Community Organiser.
The award recipients were:
Parting the summit the feedback from some of the attendees was overwhelmingly positive. For example, some of the attendees quotes:
"A great learning experience from some of the best in the game" Pau Miguel, Southampton University
"The summit was a good opportunity to engage in a higher level of coaching. It was great to hear and speak with pat Doyle and David Turgeon and learn from high-class coaches." Will Zucker, Durham University
"The things that I've learnt today will help the team immensely. We will build upon this during our training sessions. I'm sure this will be key in the future development of the team" Miguel Camilo, Queen Marys University
Various student-athletes from University baseball also attended the Coach Summit.
The above positive feedback validates the BBF Board decision to reach out to University Baseball. We expect to provide more support for University Baseball as part of our aim to grow their participation in the BBF. We would like to thank BSUK for organising a great Summit, Dr Luke Stott for vetting the award winners and to all of the student-athletes and coaches in University Baseball, said a spokesman for the BBF.
