Inaugural WBSC Congress set for March

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) will hold its inaugural Congress, where all members of the baseball and softball international family can come together, on 7-9 March 2014, though a venue has yet to be determined.

Sunday, 18 August was crucial for many teams in the BBF's AA North Division. Hull and Manchester could secure first and third positions in the league, and Bolton had the opportunity to close the gap on the Sheffield Bladerunners whilst separating themselves from Newton Aycliffe and Oldham.

GB Juniors lose opening game of South African Tour

The Great Britain Junior National team lost 10-3 to the Western Province All-star team in the opening game of their tour of South Africa. Despite the loss, there were some excellent individual performances and the entire team had a chance to turn their arms over following an intense day of travel.

The Herts Hawks swept the Kent Mariners in the final games of the season in the BBF's AA South Division on Sunday 18 August. By doing so, Herts moved above the Daws Hill Spitfires into fifth place and, at least in theory, gained an easier route to the National Baseball Championships.

HERTS FALCONS CLINCH 2013 NBL DIVISION TITLE

The Herts Falcons upped their winning streak in the BBF's National Baseball League to 19 on Sunday 18 August, despatching the Essex Redbacks 7-3 and 15-0. Those two wins clinched the 2013 NBL pennant for the Falcons, who finished the regular season with a sparkling 24-4 record.

The Great Britain Junior National Baseball Team is making history by being the first GB team to tour South Africa. The team will play games from the 19- 27 August in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg, including a five game series against the South African Junior National team.

The penultimate weekend of the Single-A regular season saw several team play for the final time in 2013, whilst others cemented their place in the playoffs to extend their season that little bit longer. The final playoff spot and battles for post-season seedings will go right down to the wire.
