5 JULY: ESSEX REDBACKS AND OXFORD KINGS SPLIT AGAIN IN TRIPLE-A SOUTH

Only one doubleheader was played in the BBF’s Triple-A South Division on Sunday 5 July, but it provided another good day of baseball. Once again, the Essex Redbacks and Oxford Kings split the outcome, leaving both teams looking up at the playoff places above them.

The Hull Scorpions turned what started off as a pitching duel into a relatively easy win in Game One of their doubleheader against the Cartmel Valley Lions on Sunday 5 July in the BBF’s Triple-A North Division, but had to come from a long way back to pick up a second win in Game Two.

A doubleheader sweep by the Bolton Robots of Doom over the Sheffield Bladerunners on Sunday 5 July in the BBF’s Double-A North Division put Bolton in the clear in second place and still within striking distance of the undefeated Manchester A’s.

London Tournament proves a success despite late venue switch

The annual London Tournament, run by the South London Pirates, had a late venue change from Roundshaw Park in Croydon to Farnham Park near Slough, but still provided a very successful weekend of baseball action on 4-5 July.
