A long and sloppy 4th inning cost Tonbridge in the 4th game of their
season on Sunday. They let up 8 runs after coming back to tie the
game in the bottom of third at 3-3.
A controversial call at the plate ended a promising comeback
prematurely in the bottom of the sixth and as the weather turned from
sunshine to overcast and cold, the gamed slipped away from Tonbridge.
They took the opportunity to give their relief pitchers some valuable
in game experience, but an efficient overall job from the London
Marauders saw the game through to a comfortable victory.
A special mention should go to captain, catcher and MVP, Steve Adams
who batted 1000, stole 4 bases and scored 2 runs.
Tonbridge look to pick up their season on Sunday 26 May at home to
Richmond Dukes. If you are interested in baseball, whether playing,

Both sides matched each other through the first few innings with the score at 5-4 to Haverhill after the top of the 3rd innings, but then the Haverhill pitcher got into his groove serving up 3 scoreless innings in a row.
In the 7th inning rookie JP Dudley stepped up to the mound to relieve G Nutt and throw his first 2 league innings, retiring the first three batters he faced, before giving up 4 runs in the 8th.
G Nutt’s (.500, 1 RBI) solo home run in the bottom of the 9th inning gave brief hope of a late comeback before the side was shut down by the pacey pitching from Haverhill.
Tonbridge continue their season at Deaconsfield on 12 May against the London Marauders. If you are interested in baseball, whether playing, umpiring or supporting, please email info@tonbridgebaseball.com
Tonbridge continued their winning start to the season away at Herts Eagles in Hemel Hempstead on Sunday.
Again the offense took the game to the opposition with heavy hitting and aggressive base stealing racking up the runs in the early innings, a home run for S Clegg (.750, 7 RBIs) in the 4th inning brought home two other base runners in the highlight of the day, while in defence the team stayed organised behind efficient pitching from G Nutt, in another MVP performance (.875, 9 RBIs), keeping the count down after last week’s 200 plus pitches. S Adams pitched the bottom of the 7th inning, protecting the lead to end the game.
Tonbridge start a 5 game home stand at Deaconsfield on 5 May against the Haverhill Blackjacks. If you are interested in baseball, whether playing, umpiring or supporting, please email info@tonbridgebaseball.com
