Opening Day for the NBL: 8 April 2018

Baseball returns!

The British Baseball Federation (The National Governing Body of Baseball) Opening Day is Sunday, 8th April at Farnham Park (Beaconsfield Rd, Slough SL2 3BP).

The day starts with the returning National Baseball League (NBL) Champions London Mets vs Southampton Mustangs. Both teams will match up in the doubleheader (game one 11:30). A great start to the 2018 BBF season and a preview of the upcoming league play in four divisions of baseball, e.g., NBL, Triple-A, Double-A, and Single-A.

The NBL is the marquee division in the BBF and is made up of the top teams in the country. Players in the NBL are a tribute to the abundance of great athletes that compete in all the BBF Leagues.

As both the Mustangs and Mets open the NBL baseball season, you can expect great competition throughout the year from all our teams (adult and youth).

This season, both the Mustangs and Mets will be showcasing new young players and veterans who have been a part of past championship teams. A testament to both the Mustangs and Mets is their consistent development of players throughout their programmes and the acquisition of players from afar. By maintaining a sustainable development model of active players, both clubs can not only compete at the highest level in the BBF but also in continental Europe, against other top teams. For example, both sides are scheduled to play later this year in the Confederate European Baseball (CEB) Federations Cup Qualifier planned in the summer. That is, with the London Mets in Pool One playing in Bulgaria (12 - 17 June) and Southampton Mustangs playing in Pool Two in Poland (11- 17 June). Good luck to both Southampton and the Mets later this year as they compete against CEBs top baseball clubs.

Anyone is welcomed to attend opening day at Farnham Park, as the entrance is free. Opening Day will be made up of a series of other events to be announced in separate announcements which will provide something for youth, adult athletes and our fans.
